The menchu is Bhutan's traditional hot stone bath. River stones are heated in a bonfire until glowing, then dropped into a wooden tub filled with Artemisia-infused water. The minerals released are said to ease joint pain and fatigue.
Best experienced at a farmhouse in a rural village — Paro valley has the most authentic options. 90-minute session including a shed, towels, and herbal soap.
