How we verify every provider

Travel scams are the single biggest fear when people plan a Bhutan trip. We can't eliminate risk — but we can remove the obvious traps.

1. License verification

Every tour operator and guide in Bhutan must be licensed by the Department of Tourism. Before a provider is listed, we check their license number against the official registry. If it doesn't match — we don't list them.

2. Review authenticity analysis

Star ratings alone are not enough. Our engine looks at the pattern of reviews:
  • Burst detection — clusters of 5-star reviews within a few days, a classic coordinated-posting signal.
  • Reviewer history — if most reviewers only ever wrote one review (this one), that's suspicious.
  • Language repetition — the same unusual phrases showing up across many reviews hints at templated feedback.
  • Rating variance — real businesses get some 3s and 4s. A 100% 5-star profile is rarely organic.
  • Time spread — reviews accumulating steadily over years is a healthy, positive signal.

We combine these into a single Trust Score(High / Medium / Low) shown on every listing, with the exact reasoning.

3. What we can't promise

We don't take money on your behalf and we're not a booking platform. You deal directly with providers — which means you should still exercise normal travel caution. If a deal feels too good to be true, it probably is.
