Paro Half day Up to 12from $25 / entry fee per person (guide required)
The iconic cliff-side monastery — a half-day hike every Bhutan visitor takes.
About
Paro Taktsang, or "Tiger's Nest," sits at 3,120m on a cliff face 900m above the Paro Valley. Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated in a cave here for 3 years, 3 months and 3 days.
The hike is 6-8km round trip with 900m of ascent. Most travelers take 4-5 hours total. Horse rides are available up to the first viewpoint. Cameras are not allowed inside the monastery.
Best done in the morning — clouds often obscure the monastery by afternoon.
