Kuenphen Homestay Phobjikha
Farm-stay in Phobjikha Valley — home-cooked meals and black-necked crane viewing.
About
Kuenphen Homestay is run by the Dorji family in Phobjikha Valley. 4 guest rooms in a traditional farmhouse, shared bathrooms with hot water bukhari (wood stove). All meals are home-cooked by Aum Dema — red rice, ema datshi, phaksha paa, and dishes using vegetables from the family garden. In winter, the black-necked cranes roost just 20 minutes' walk away.

The highlight of our whole Bhutan trip. Aum Dema's cooking was the best food we had. Simple rooms, warm blankets, cranes in the morning.

Real homestay experience, not dressed up for tourists. Kids of the family were shy but curious. Felt like being invited home.

Freezing in January — bring layers and a sleeping bag. But the warmth of the family more than compensated.

Set up the stay via WhatsApp. Got a call from Dorji confirming. Easy process for a homestay. Food was abundant.
